This is a newsletter developed by the children - 'by students for students'.  Here are some excerpts from our July 2008 issue, including an article they asked Mrs Capel Davies, our retiring head teacher, to write.

Farewell, Arrivederci, Goodbye, Au revoir

Mrs Capel Davies is leaving us.  She joined Marsh Baldon in January 2001.  Since then she has had many experiences and she has achieved a lot for the school.

In 2005 Mrs Capel Davies had helped with organising a new staffroom, library and office.  The night it was finished the school burnt down, but luckily it was just class 1 and class 2.  Mrs Capel Davies came at half past five in the morning to deal with the problem.

Mrs Capel Davies has done many things for us like organising schiool trips like the zoo, Yenworthy and Hill End.  Mrs Capel Davies has been a very good head teacher and we will miss her dearly.

It seems like yesterday....and then again, it seems like another life

My first day at Marsh Baldon and so much has happened since then.  I have seen Reception children change and grow up to be the bold and interesting Year 6s now.  I have seen my office, which used to be in the library and was used as the medical room, photocopying room, Mrs menmuir's office and walk through to outside, become my own.  What of the fire, the portacabins, the stay at the Global Retreat, to say nothing of the staff and governor changes and visits from Boris and the Bishop!  There have been so many productions, celebrations and outings that stay in my mind.  Yenworthy is a very special memory.

It has been a rollercoaster of a ride, which has enriched my life.  I have worked in many shcools but there is something very special about this school.  It's small, it's great.  It really is 'Small school - big deal', our own school motto created nearly eight years ago.

One thing is for sure, Marsh Baldon will always remain a great and lasting memory.
