Our ducklings
School council put in a request for school pets and hatching some ducklings seemed a good idea. They hatched out in March and they are now grown up and living on the pond next to the school where they seem very happy. These are some of the things we have learned from raising the ducks.....
• respect for life
• about life cycles
• about development of an embryo
• responsibility for pet ownership
• responsibility for their requirements –diet, hygiene, health, housing
• that not all creatures will survive – dangers and predators
• how to improve our local environment i.e. the pond
• links with the wider community
• the benefits of pets for us and us for pets.
