Class 1 - what have we been doing?
We have been very busy as you can see here.......
Trip to Botanic gardens
Class 1 and Year 2 children went on a trip to the botanic garden, to explore our fives senses in a variety of climates. First we wandered into a warm arid climate, enveloped with the scent of jasmine and the sight of prickly cacti.
Next we ventured out into the still chilly British climate and smelt a variety of pungent herbs such as lavender and thyme. We listened to the cascade of the water fountain amid the noise of city traffic. We moved on into the tropical lands of the rainforest where giant palms and pink bananas grew! We were able to taste pineapple, oranges from the orange tree and chocolate from the cocoa-plant. It was a trip that delighted all our senses and one we shall not forget.
Pizza making
|
| In class 1 we have discovered things about faraway places. We made food from different countries such as pizza from Italy. We discussed our ingredients, how to be safe when cooking, measured our ingredients, rolled out our dough (got very messy!), placed our toppings on and cooked in our kitchen.

We took them home to eat that night!
Willow weaving
Just before the Easter break, Oliver from the Northmoor Trust came to help us set up a living willow tunnel for the Foundation Outdoor Area. He set us up with equipment and helped us if we needed it, but the whole school all helped to build and weave the structure. We worked really well as a team and even Reception were able to hammer in some poles and weave some willow. We watered it and hope to see some buds forming soon! Thanks Oliver!
